One of the two Brachypelma species that looks a bit different than the others, Brachypelma klaasi is a species with a bit of a unique charm to its red legs. That’s just it. It has red legs… or rather pink. This species is two toned; pink and black. Black body with sunset pink colored hairs on the legs, chelicerae, abdomen, and even in a thin ring around the carapace. This species is somewhat rare in nature, which is such a shame for how docile and pretty they are. An amazing display spider once they put on some size and really start showing their black and orangish pink hairs. It doesn't hurt that this species is long lived, either.
This species is from southwest Mexico, primarily around the Chamela region near Jalisco. Females of this species get around 6 inches, and the males are not far off in size. The males also look nearly identical to the females when they mature, and aren’t as sexually dimorphic in color like some other species may be. Of course, this species is most often referred to as the “Mexican Pink Tarantula” for obvious reasons.
