A species with an appearance as endearing as their common name, the Hapalopus formosus will surely have you “fall” in love. H. formosus have a black and orange pattern on their abdomen that resembles a field of pumpkins; hence the name “Pumpkin Patch Tarantula”. The entire spider’s coloration seems to theme on Halloween and autumn. A smaller species that makes a decent webbed burrow, H. formosus are great for those hobbyists that don’t have a lot of space for a large enclosure.

Hailing from northern Colombia, the H. formosus is a very affordable spider with delightful patterning to spot when they're out and about in their enclosure. Females can reach a legspan of around 3-4 inches on average. If you want a spider that has patterning from the tiny sling stage all the way to adulthood, then this spider is for you!
