Once common in the hobby, the Eupalaestrus campestratus is a striped species with a calm demeanor and long lifespan. A dark spider with pale leg striping and pink hairs over its body, the E. campestratus is a great tarantula for those that donβt mind letting it take its time to grow. With slightly thickened hind legs, this species tends to burrow in the ground and wait for food to come to it. With some patience, this tarantula can become the gentle display spider the hobby has always loved.
This species is native to Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil. Females can reach a legspan of 5 inches to 6 inches. Due to the pink hairs and white on black leg striping, this species has earned the common name of βPink Zebra Beauty Tarantula.β For a period of time, this species was very difficult to find, but thankfully now more hobbyists can get their hands on this docile species.
