One of the two Brachypelma species that looks a bit different from the others, Brachypelma albiceps is a species that doesn’t have the red leg markings that the rest of the genus has. Instead, B. albiceps looks more like an Aphonopelma or Tliltocatl species. Nonetheless, the species acts just like the other species of Brachypelma. This species is a tad flighty, and can kick a flurry of hairs if it feels like its life is threatened.

Native to Mexico, just southwest of Puebla, this species strays away from the rest of its genus by camouflaging in the ground below them. Females can reach around 6 inches in legspan, with males getting slightly smaller. This hardy species has a lot of character, even if it doesn't have the red leg patterning its cousins in Brachypelma have, and can make a great display species if you enjoy a display species with more bold contrast than flashy colors.
