Color is a very special attribute when it comes to Avicularia, there being many colors found in the genus. A. juruensis is no different. This species, in its normal form, is purple. This species isn’t just purple and black like A. purpurea, mind you. This Avicularia is a bluish purple with pinkish red hairs that line the side of the abdomen. Like most Avicularia, this species is calm and generally slow moving, and has the pink toes at the ends of their feet.

Native to Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil, this species has a good bit of range in the wild. Females can reach a size of around 5-6 inches at full size. Like most Avicularia, this species tends to launch its waste at perceived threats. If needed, they can also rub urticating hairs onto threats to deter them. This species isn’t too different from other Avicularia when it comes to temperament or behavior, but if you’re looking for an Avic with a different color scheme than the common navy blue, then this species may be a good fit for you!
