Looking for a more strange velvety black tarantula? Not a fan of the orange on Abdomegaphobema mesomelas? Or are you looking for something that few people have kept? If you answered yes to any or all of those questions, then A. peterklaasi may be for you! Like its black and orange cousin, the A. peterklaasi is a medium sized spider with a stocky build from Costa Rica.

More specifically, this species comes from the cloud forests of Costa Rica. A highland species that experiences cool days and cooler nights. Females can get between 5 to 6 inches. There is little information about this species in captivity, as not many hobbyists keep this enigmatic black beauty. A shame, as this species has just as much character as the A. mesomelas, with an even β€œklaasier” species name.
