Tarantula Enclosure Shelf Planner (Free Tool)

Updated: December 18, 2025

Plan how many tarantula enclosures you can fit on your shelves before you buy more spiders. This free shelf planner is designed for display style setups where enclosures sit in a single row and nothing is hidden behind another enclosure.

Enter your shelf dimensions, add common enclosure sizes (currently many Tarantula Cribs enclosures + the option to add your own), then generate a drag and drop layout. Depth only needs to fit while width and stackability determine how many enclosures you can line up or stack.

What this planner is for

Use this planner when you want to:

This tool does not give care advice about temperature, humidity, or species needs. It only helps you see whether the enclosures will physically fit on your shelves.

1

Add your shelves

Enter the usable space where enclosures sit (inches).

Tip: If shelf sides are blocked, add edge clearance so you do not wedge vents against a wall.

Quick notes

  • All sizes are inches.
  • Depth is just a must fit constraint; layout is a single row across width.
  • You will be able to rearrange manually later.
2

Add your enclosures

Pick a preset or enter your own.

FAQs

Does this work for reptiles or other animals?

Yes, as long as the enclosures are basic rectangles and you know the outside dimensions, you can use this planner for small reptile or amphibian enclosures too. It was built with tarantulas and invertebrates in mind, but the math is the same.

Does the planner tell me if it is safe to stack enclosures?

No. The stackable option only affects the layout. Always follow the enclosure manufacturer's guidance and your own judgment about ventilation, weight, and safety before stacking enclosures.

Where can I get tarantulas to house in these enclosures?

You can use the main Tarantula List comparison tool to see which vendors have the species you want in stock.
