This species is nothing but hair. That isn’t a comment on the urticating hairs, too. This species’ legs are all kinds of hairy. Their red leg hairs complement their black bodies well. Nhandu carapoensis is a somewhat uncommon species to find, but one that deserves more attention. This species doesn’t grow super fast, but that just means you’ll have them a bit longer.
This species comes from Brazil, Paraguay, and potentially Bolivia. Females can get between 5-6 inches in size. A tiny bit smaller than some other species in the genus, but that just means it's a bit more manageable. The common name for this species is the “Brazilian Red Tarantula”, which fits perfectly. Not a species most hobbyists work with, but with its coloration, size, and overall presence deserves more attention.
