Eupalaestrus is a sadly overlooked genus. Though, that’s not the fault of the hobby, as species in this genus are not often available due to how long this species lives. Which is very unfortunate, as E. larae is one of the species that should get more love. Hairy legs, yellow knee patterns, thick hind legs, and a long lifespan; that’s what sets this species apart from the rest. Eupalaestrus are known for being more gentle than other new world species.

Eupalaestrus larae comes from the Chaco region of Argentina. Females may get around 5 inches in legspan. The species is given the common name of the “Gold Zebra Beauty Tarantula”. The species is fairly new to the US hobby, but is a good species to grow up if you’re looking for something a bit “out there”.
