Ever see oil on the pavement near a car wash? The rainbows that come when it hits the light just right? This species has coloration almost similar to that. Blue, cyan, red, orange, and green. Those colors are what you have to look forward to on D. diamantinensis. These heavy webbers may be fast, but they lack the aggravating urticating hairs that so many other new world tarantulas seem to have. These are also not giant encumbering species that you’ll need to dedicate a large space to in your home.

Dolichothele diamantinensis is from southeast Brazil. This species can reach a size of between 3 and 4 inches in legspan, proving that beauty doesn’t need to be big. Commonly known as the “Brazilian Blue Beauty Tarantula”, this spider has cemented itself in the hobby as a species to be awed at. This spider works well as a means to keep something with a bit more speed, to help a hobbyist work up to an old world.
