Hi, I’m Steve. I built Tarantula List for myself first, to compare in-stock tarantulas across vendors without bouncing between tabs. It turned out to be useful for other keepers too, so I made it public.
What This Site Is
- A simple comparison tool for in-stock tarantulas from trusted vendors.
- A way to find a single vendor that carries all the species you want to order, to save on shipping costs.
- Guides and musings about tarantulas, specifically aiming to demystify the process of buying tarantulas online.
- A gateway to find the vendors who have what you want, so you can buy from them.
- Built to save you time and money.
What This Site Isn’t
- Not "the future" of anything. It's just a simple tool that I made because I thought it would be useful.
- Not a vendor; I don’t sell animals.
- Not a care encyclopedia. I link to good resources when it helps (if you are looking for husbandry notes I recommend Tom's Big Spiders for that).
How Vendors Are Chosen
- A standalone website (not just selling on a marketplace).
- Clear species labeling and communication.
- Regularly updated stock.
- Reasonable shipping practices and packing.
- Responsiveness when there’s a problem.
- Generally favorable reviews.
If you’re a vendor and want to be listed, or a keeper with feedback, please email me.
Disclosures
I may use affiliate links in the future. If I do, they will be labeled. I don’t sell placement and I don’t list vendors I wouldn’t personally buy from. All else being equal, choosing to buy from an affiliate link will help the site, but please, always buy from the vendor that is best able to meet your needs.
Privacy, in plain English
I don’t use cookies or tracking pixels. I log only IP addresses (to discern if one user visted many pages, or many users visited a few pages), country-level location (no city or precise location), and counts of clicks on outbound vendor links to keep the site running and understand what’s useful. I don’t sell or share personal data, and my hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security.
